Culture Read more

Castelrotto and Val Gardena are a true meeting point of culture and tradition.
Churches and chapels testify to the religious life on the Alto Piano dello Sciliar / Schlern Plateau and Val Gardena. Should you like to find out more about the life, customs and traditions of the farmers, you will find the museum of Traditional Costumes in Castelrotto, farmer museum in S. Oswaldo and the museum Gherdeina in Ortisei worth a visit.

The Monte Calvario/Kalvarienberg hill- an impressive view of the village of Castelrotto and the Sciliar.
Or Kofel, as it is called by the locals, is a probably unique group of chapels.

Oswald von Wolkenstein Path in Siusi allo Sciliar- The trail leads you in the footsteps of poet and knight Oswald von Wolkenstein.
Castelvecchio/Hauenstein, his erstwhile home, to the ruins of Salego/Salegg, of which very little remains today. An underground passageway connected the two castles, and legend tells that a hoard of gold and silver was hidden here at one time

The area Val Gardena is one of four Ladin valleys where the Rhaeto-Romance language „Ladin“ is still spoken and taught. The Ladin language originated from a mixture of the Latin spoken by the first Roman conquerors and the Celtic language spoken by the native population of the valleys.

Classical music: "Swing on Snow" is the high light on the Alpe di Siusi.

Don’t miss a wonderful shopping tour in / visit the iceman museum in our beautiful capital city Bolzano.
